William “Hal” Howell Stuart, age 65, of Lake City, Florida passed away on February 23, 2022, at Lake City Medical Center. He was born August 15, 1956, in Lake City, Florida to the late John Broward Stuart, Sr. and Eva Rhetta Beasley Stuart. Hal was a lifelong resident of Lake City. He was an auto mechanic by trade and enjoyed working on cars as well as racing them. Hal was an NHRA and NASCAR enthusiast. After work his favorite pass time was hanging out with friends at the Santa Fe River. Hal was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Broward “J.B.” Stuart, Jr.; and grandson Damien Kornegay. Hal is survived by his daughter, Misty (Keith) Kornegay of Alachua, FL; siblings, Sylvia Williams of Lake City, FL, Freddie Stuart of Okeechobee, FL, Sandra Horne of Branford, FL, Eleanor (Joe) Sweat of Jacksonville, FL, Nancy Johnson of Jacksonville, FL, Susan (Don) Church of Lake City, Fl; grandchildren, Ariel, Nicole, and Brie Kornegay; mother of his child, Jo Ann Pittman of Lake City, FL. A Celebration of Hal’s Life will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Ferreira Funeral Services. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
