Wallace E. “Buck” Waite, 82, of Bryceville Florida, went to his eternal rest on November 17, 2020. He was born on the first day of deer season, on November 12, 1938, to proud parents, Harold A. “Bill” Waite and Dorothy “Dot” Waite, he was quickly nick-named Buck. At an early age, following in his brother’s footsteps, he got into the sport of boxing. He also became an avid stock car racer and fan. He joined the Navy upon graduation from Rutland High school in 1956, was stationed at Jacksonville N.A.S., where he met his bride, and the love of his life, Bertha Lee “Bert” Jones. Upon discharge from the Navy they returned to Rutland, Vermont to start a life and raise their three children. In 1973, they moved to Bryceville, Florida to be closer to Bert’s family. He went to work on the docks in Jacksonville, Florida for I.L.A. Local 1593, as a clerk/checker until retirement. After retiring, Buck filled his time building a Hot-Rod pickup, carpentry/woodworking, serving the Lord as the Fix-it man at his church, and spending time with family and friends. Buck is predeceased by his wife and soulmate of 63 years, Bert; parents; brother, Bill of Rutland, VT; sister, Betty Sargent of Rutland, VT; a special niece, Tammy; and countless relatives and friends. Buck is survived by three children, John (Maureen) Waite, Hal (Valerie) Waite, and Cheryl (Mike) Carr all of Bryceville, FL; sister-in-law, Pat Waite of N. Clarendon, VT; brother-in-laws, Raymond (Delaine) Jones of Bryceville, FL and Manny (Vivian) Ortega of Clay Hill, FL; grandchildren, Bo (Samantha) Waite, Jennifer Curry, Scott (Connie)Waite, Jason (April) Carr, Danielle (Brandon) Ennis, Andrea (Josh) Grennell, Jared (Lindsey) Waite; several nieces and nephews; the Lord also blessed Buck with 14 great grandchildren; and his special friend, Sugar. A celebration of Buck’s life will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Ferreira Funeral Services with Pastor Richard Fish officiating. Interment will follow at Brandy Branch Cemetery where military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
