Burnsed – Suzanne “Susie” Crews Burnsed, age 73, of St. George, Georgia passed away on June 8, 2022, at Folkston Park Nursing Home. She was born February 22, 1949, in Polk City, Florida to the late Dean Crews and Marveene Batten Crews. Susie was raised in St. George where she spent the majority of her life. Shortly after school, Susie married best friend, John Wesley “J.W.” Burnsed, Jr. on December 2, 1966. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister who always put her family first. Susie enjoyed her time as a homemaker, tending to her family, raising her children, and helping with her grandchildren. She was an amazing cook and baker who took great joy in feeding those she loved. Susie was known for the best coconut cake, fruit cakes, and fried cube steak. She enjoyed crafts and being active in her church, the First Baptist Church of St. George, GA where she was a longtime member. More than anything, Susie loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean Crews and Marveene Batten Crews; loving husband of 52 years, John Wesley “J.W.” Burnsed, Jr.; daughters, Annie Jeanine Conner and Stephanie Hicks; grandson, Timothy Luke Burnsed; son-in-law, Rusty Hicks; and brother-in-law, R.T. Spivey. Susie is survived by her children, Timothy W. Burnsed of St. George, GA, and Missy (Bill) Sharpe of Alma, GA; brothers, W.D. (Linda) Crews of St. George, GA and Wesley (Callie) Crews of Baxter, FL; sisters, Carol (Charles) Murray and Marsha (Tommy) Roddenberry both of St. George, GA; grandchildren, Brandon (Brooke) Conner, Lindsey Burnsed, Braxton Lee, Joshua (La’Ena) Burnsed, Hunter Hicks, Kristie Conner, Hannah King, Bethany (Nolan) Crawford, Derek (Keri) King, Kayse Sands, Matt (Kaitlyn) Sands, and Ashley Rhoden, Bill Sharpe, Jr. Taylor Sharpe; great-grandchildren, Leland and Brynleigh Burnsed, Annaleigh and Aubree Sands, Khalil, Kanan, and Kheelan Johnson, Carter Crawford, and Indy and Easton King. A Celebration of Susie’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of St. George with Pastor Larry Finley and Brother Gene Burnsed officiating. Interment will follow at Moniac Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 13, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
