Tanner- Ruby Lee Tanner, age 80, of Milton, Florida passed away on January 29, 2022, at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. She was born in Georgia to the late Luther Sexton and Ida Koon Sexton. Ruby was raised in Lake City where she met the love of her life, Archie M. Tanner, after graduating high school. Archie and Ruby were happily married and together they lovingly raised their beautiful daughter, Lucretia. They resided in Lake City for a season until making Starke their forever home in the mid 1970’s. Ruby enjoyed tending to her family and all their needs and was called into a different role when her and Archie established Archie Tanner Funeral Home in 1976. They proudly served Bradford County and the surrounding communities for many years. Ruby was a leader by nature and was able to manage and assist Archie with various funeral home tasks, but she was most passionate about her family especially her grandson, Ryan and great grandson, Kaleb. Ruby loved her family dearly and certainly enjoyed precious time with them. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 32 years, Archie M. Tanner, LFD.; 3 brothers, R.V. Sexton, L.M. Sexton, and Phillip Wade Sexton; and 2 sisters, Mittie Nelson and Mary Beth Crews. Ruby is survived by her loving daughter, Lucretia (Howard) Tanner Kistler of Milton, FL; sisters, Shirley (Hugh) Dampier of Lake City, FL, Betty (Rodney) Sistrunk of Fanning Springs, FL, and Charlotte (Donnie) Ammons of Lake City, FL; her grandchildren, Ryan (Brandy Locke) Kistler and Kristen Kistler; and great grandchildren, Kaleb Kistler, Gaberyl, Ellie, Elijah, Aiden, Justice, Gabby and Silas. A Private Graveside Celebration of Ruby’s Life will be held at Memorial Cemetery in Lake City, FL with Reverend Hugh Dampier officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
