Smith – Roy Patrick Smith, age 31, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at UF Health in Gainesville. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on August 26, 1990, to Mary Durrance and the late Roger Smith. Roy was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, FL. After attending Nathan B. Forest High School, Roy enjoyed a long career at Lee’s Recycling where he was able to help in many departments from general labor to being a forklift driver. When not working, Roy thoroughly enjoyed outdoors. He loved riding dirt bikes, four wheelers, and cars. He also enjoyed playing video games and was known for his hobby of buying treasures and reselling for a profit. Roy will truly be missed by so many, and his memory will live on through his family and friends who he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his father; daughter, Autumn Smith; and mother of his children, Brittany Crawford. Roy is survived by his loving mother and step father, Beth (Dewey) Purvis of Jacksonville, FL; children, Summer and R.J. Smith of Callahan, FL; brothers, Jake “Drake” (Molly) Smith and Matthew (Brandy Denlay) Purvis both of Jacksonville, FL and Joey Purvis of GA; grandmother, Nellie Purvis; many nieces, 1 nephew, 1 great niece, 1 great nephew, numerous cousins, extended family members and friends along with his sweet Kitty, Rummage. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 11:00 am at Whitehouse Full Gospel with Pastor Sheila Houston officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Ferreira Funeral Services Chaffee Road Chapel.
