Mr. Ronald "Ron" Eugene Bufe

October 29, 1934 - June 21, 2020

Bufe – Ronald “Ron” Eugene Bufe, age 85, of Glen St. Mary, Florida went to his heavenly home on June 21, 2020 at Baptist Medical Center Downtown in Jacksonville, FL. Ron was born on October 29, 1934 in Moline, Illinois to the late Eugene Bufe and Elsie Hanssen Bufe. He was raised in Moline, IL and graduated from Moline High School in 1952. Following graduation, Ron worked at Moline Dispatch Newspaper for a year before enlisting in the United States Navy. He proudly served our country from November of 1958 until January of 1963. During his military service, Ron met the love of his life in 1959 and they were happily married on December 24, 1961. Ron and Helen have shared 58 wonderful years and were blessed with 5 great children and 5 amazing grandchildren. After his honorable discharge from the military, Ron pursued a marketing and business degree at Western Illinois College, worked as a Pharmaceutical Representative, and shortly after started his longtime career in the insurance industry. For many years, Ron worked as a Marketing Director for Equitable Life Assurance and a Vice President for Midwestern United Life Insurance Company. Ron was an active member of the Boy Scouts America and even served as a Boy Scout Master. He also coached soccer for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville Beach. Ron was very artistic and enjoyed watching Indiana University and Boston Celtics basketball games and reading, but more than anything, Ron will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who loved all his family dearly. He was preceded in death by his loving parents; sister, Lois Franks; and brother-in-law, Louis Franks. Ron is survived by his loving wife, Helen M. Bufe of Glen St. Mary, FL; children, Jason Bufe of Germantown, NY, Leslye (Chris) Bartkus of Fort Wayne, IN, Krista Bufe of Glen St. Mary, FL, Dain (Kelli) Bufe of St. Augustine, FL, and Randa (Ben) French of Glen St. Mary, FL; and his grandchildren, Corey Bartkus, Alex Bartkus, Kylie Bartkus, Abbie French and Ella French. A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 5:00 pm at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services Chapel with Mr. Dain T. Bufe officiating.
