Burch – Robert Michael “Big Mike” Burch, age 61, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on June 9, 2022, at St. Vincent’s Riverside Medical Center in Jacksonville. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on May 8, 1961. Mike was a resident of Nassau, Union, and Duval County throughout his life. After attending Ed White High School, he started his longtime career in law enforcement. Mike proudly served as a Correctional officer at Nassau County Sheriff’s office, Union Correctional Institute, Florida State Prison, and the Reception and Medical center for a total of 35 years until retiring in 2013. He married the love of his life, Alice, on December 16, 2002, and they have enjoyed the past 19 years of marriage. Mike loved hard, fought harder and he protected his family with a fierceness to rival no man. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Alice Burch; parents, Robert and Lynda Burch; children, Justin, Taylor, Mitchell (Lauren), Brian, Alan and Rebekah; sister, Barbara Lynn Profitt; grandchildren, Ashlyn and Mason, along with extended family members and friends. Mike’s family will celebrate his precious life privately in the near future.
