Dobbs – Nita K. “Gal” Dobbs, age 100, of Starke, Florida went to her Heavenly home on October 24, 2020 at Windsor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Starke, FL. She was born in Starke on January 7, 1920 to the late Sim Kelly and Inez Haislop Kelly. Gal was raised in Starke where she met and married the love of her life, Reverend Alton Dobbs. She was a devoted wife to Alton for 58 years and a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Gal loved serving alongside her husband in ministry as a Ministers wife. She was a member of the New Berlin Road Baptist Church in Jacksonville for 35 years where Alton was a pastor. Gal loved her Lord and Savior and enjoyed furthering God’s Kingdom by witnessing to folks. She also enjoyed attending gospel sings, especially her favorite group, the Inspirations. Gal was a hard-working woman who enjoyed her longtime career as an Insurance Examiner at United Insurance Company in Jacksonville. When she wasn’t working, Gal loved fishing, spending time with her friends and family, and taking care of her cats, Stormy, Hundy, Big Tail, and Kitty Kitty and her dog, Molly. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Reverend Alton Dobbs; brother, Donald Kelly; sister-in-law, Voncille Kelly; and son-in-law, Reverend James Starling. Gal is survived by her loving daughter, Eloise Starling Jones of Starke, FL; her 3 grandchildren, Julie (Robert) Martin, Janna (John) Samons, and Jimmy (Sandra) Starling; and her great grandchildren, Cayden Martin, Kaleb Martin, Cody Samons, Dayshawn Samons, Jennifer (A.J.) Hart, and Brennan (Morgan) Starling. A Celebration of Gal’s Life will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Archie Tanner Memorial Chapel with Pastor Donnie Lott officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Crosby Lake Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
