Medsker – Linda Faye Medsker, age 74, of Glen St. Mary, Florida passed away at her home on May 3, 2022. She was born on January 16, 1948, in Jessup, GA to the late Samuel Chancey and Lois McCarthy Chancey. Linda was raised in Georgia and traveled various places as a young adult. She settled in Jacksonville where she resided for many years until making Baker County her forever home in 2004. Linda was a mother and grandmother to so many. She was most passionate about her children and grandchildren and loved spending sweet time with them all. Linda enjoyed a career at the Dots Food Company delivering food to construction sites so many hard workers could have a fresh hot meal. She also enjoyed being a Manager at the Kangaroo gas station in Jacksonville where she served for many years in the late 1990’s. She took most pride in being a mother and loved tending to her family. Linda also enjoyed shopping, going to flea markets and yard sales, flower gardening and taking care of all her plants. Most of all, Linda will be remembered as a loving, caring, generous mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who put others needs before her own. Her presence will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and continue to future generations. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Patterson; grandson, Josh Hilliard; and sons-in-law, Darell Hurst and Bear Hilliard. Linda is survived by loving children, Sherrie Hurst of Baker County, FL, Lisa Hilliard of Hilliard, FL, Kevin and Karen Chancey; brothers, Eddie McCarthy of Texas, Buddy Patterson of Alma, GA, and David (Terri) Chancey of Spring Hill, FL; 16 grandchildren, but 10 she raised as children, Dalton (Taylor), Tres, Morgan (Dante), Ronnie, Danny, Levi, Keaton, Brandon, Amanda, and Levi; along with many great-grandchildren and 5 very special great-grandchildren, Liam, Libby, Paisley, Ivey, and baby Jordan on the way. A Celebration of Linda’s life will be held Monday, May 9, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Ferreira Funeral Services with Pastor Tim Alford officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the funeral home to assist with Linda’s funeral expenses.
