Corder – James Alvin Corder, age 79, of Glen St. Mary, Florida passed away on January 28, 2021 at Community Hospice Alice and T. O'Neal Douglas Center for Caring in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born April 9, 1941 in Missouri to the late George Alvin Corder and Malinda Mae Gray Corder. James was raised in Romulus, Michigan where he met the love of his life, Betty, while in high school. On January 4, 1959 they were happily married and enjoyed 61 amazing years together. James was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who was a jack of all trades. After school he worked at his father’s gas station, Al & George’s Service Station, and shortly after worked as a diesel mechanic. James was an operator at a cement plant, a land developer, worked in an oil field, but most of his life, he enjoyed his career at Smith and Loveless, a waste water equipment manufacturer, as a Senior Field Manager. James main passion was traveling and with his career he was able to travel the world. When he wasn’t traveling for work, he loved vacationing with his family. He also enjoyed tinkering, wood working, restoring cars and motorcycles. More than anything, James loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Betty Delores Corder; and brother-in-law, Tom Ursiny. James is survived by his children, Dawn Corder of CT, David (Sharon) Corder of Glen St. Mary, FL, and Douglas (Angie) Corder of Glen St. Mary, FL; brothers, Charles (Micki) Corder of MI, George (Denise) Corder of MI, and Richard (Susan) Corder of LA; sisters, Ruby Ursiny of MI, Carol (John) McKenzie of GA, Lynda (Larry) Moore of MI, Virginia (Phil) Jones of MI, Barbara (Fran) Chinchak of MI, Wanda Corder of MI, Charlotte (Paul) Stafford of Glen St. Mary, FL; aunt, Wilhemina Patton of Old Town, FL; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery with Interment following.
