Brown - Holland “Dutch” Roan Brown, Jr., age 69, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away May 21, 2022, at Baptist Medical Center North. He was born on January 25, 1953, in Tampa, Florida to the late Holland Roan Brown, Sr. and Sarah Lee Wilkinson Brown. Dutch’s father was in the Airforce, so his family moved numerous times throughout his childhood. They settled in Jacksonville, Florida when Dutch was a teenager. After attending Paxon High School, Dutch joined the United States Marine Corps and was a Sergeant for 5 years. After his honorable discharge from military, he began his 23-year career as a mail handler with the United States Postal Service. Dutch attended Maxville Baptist Church and enjoyed golfing and fishing in his free time. His main passion in life was coaching Little League baseball where he was able to help teach and lead young boys. Dutch loved his sons more than anything and looked forward to annual outings and celebrating birthdays with family and friends. He was truly an amazing man and will be certainly missed by all who knew him. Dutch was preceded in death by his parents, Holland Roan Brown, Sr. and Sarah Lee Wilkinson Brown and his brothers, Steven Glen Brown and Roy Duane Brown. Dutch is survived by his sons, Jason Lloyd Brown and Edward Anthony Brown both of St. Augustine, FL, and Holland “D.J.” Brown III of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Robert Edward (Karen Marie) Brown of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Julie Brown of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Vinney, Vincent, Victor, Victoria, Harley, and Ariel; great-grandchildren Makayla, Julian, and Levi; and numerous extended family members and friends. A Celebration of Dutch’s Life will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Maxville Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Fish officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the church. Interment and Committal Service will be on Monday, May 30, 2022, at 9:30 am at Jacksonville National Cemetery where military honors will be rendered.
