Herman Lamar Kilgore

Kilgore – Herman Lamar Kilgore, age 83, of Starke, Florida passed away on May 10, 2020 at his residence in Starke, FL. Lamar was born on April 20, 1937 in Ocilla, Georgia to the late, William L. Kilgore and Erma Cavenaugh Kilgore. He was raised in Georgia and graduated from Mystic High School in Irwinville, GA. Following high school, Lamar joined the United States Navy where he proudly served his country as Chief Warrant Officer. After 26 years of dedicated service, Lamar was honorably discharged from the military and started his career at Florida State Prison as their Head Electrician. Lamar was an accomplished hardworking man who always stayed busy. He was a Jack of All Trades and was passionate about his farming, vegetable gardening, and raising chickens. Lamar also enjoyed being outdoors, swimming in his pool, but more than anything, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 46 years, Jean Kilgore; son, Bennett Lamar Kilgore, Sr.; stepson, Mark Brunell; brothers, Jim and Billy Kilgore; and his sister, Latrelle Atkinson. Lamar is survived by his daughters, Lori Omlor of Jacksonville, FL and Pamela Donahue of Starke, FL; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A private Celebration of Lamar’s Life will be held at Crosby Lake Cemetery. Entombment will follow at the cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
