    Mr. Henry Wade Ellis

    June 16, 1935 - April 12, 2022

Ellis – Henry “Dubby” Wade Ellis, Sr., age 86, of Glen St. Mary, Florida passed away April 12, 2022, at Earl B. Haldow Center for Caring in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born June 16, 1935, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Wade Gillen Ellis and Evelyn Austin Ellis. Dubby was raised in Jacksonville, Florida, and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. He was a resident of Jacksonville the majority of his life and relocated to Palatka, Florida where he lived for 30 years. Dubby enjoyed a long career at NAS Jax as a Water Works Technician and retired after 30 years of dedicated service. He loved tinkering and building things so much so that following his retirement Dubby decided to build a houseboat, which only took him 2 years to complete. He was a member of the Shriners in Jacksonville and always stayed busy and active. Dubby’s main passion in life was racing. He was an avid NASCAR fan; his favorite racers were Dale Earnhardt and Ty Gibbs. At a young age, he started racing go carts. He could always be found at the Jax Speedway, cheering on the drivers and sponsoring motocross riders. More than anything, Dubby loved his family, enjoyed spending time with them and will truly be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joann Peck; and son, Henry Wade “Little Dubby” Ellis, Jr. Dubby is survived by his daughter, Pam (George “Sonny”) Williams of Glen St. Mary, Fl; brothers, Jerald (Lyn) Ellis of Port Charlotte, Fl, Donald (Dawn) Ellis of Fleming Island, FL; grandson, Chris (Allison) Williams; many great-nieces and nephews; a great-great nephew; and special friends, Ben and Teresa Bolton. A Celebration of Dubby’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Ferreira Funeral Services Parlor with Mr. Travis Jay officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V. TODD FERREIRA FUNERAL SERVICES, 250 North Lowder Street, Macclenny, FL 32063 (904)259-5700.
