He worked hard to provide for his family and was most proud of his military service and his career as the Food Service Manager at Camp Blanding for 15 years. George loved his pets and throughout the years had a mini farm of cats, dogs, rabbits, and ducks. He was Methodist by faith, but enjoyed attending St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Middleburg, FL with his wife. More than anything, George was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughters, Mackenzie Lynne Konkel and Amelia Rose Edwards; and his brother, Benjamin Konkel, Jr. George is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Cathy Konkel of Lawtey, FL; his children, George (Mary) Konkel, Jr. of Starke, FL, Sharon (Rusty) Anderson, Scott (Karen) Konkel both of Lawtey, FL, Michelle (Jason) Edwards of Ormond Beach, FL; brothers, Tim Konkel of Flanders, New York and Elbert Konkel; sisters, Katherine Konkel of Flanders, NY, Joan Konkel of Tennessee, and Mary (John) Becker of Manorville, NY; 8 grandchildren, George Wyatt Konkel, Jensen McCall, Ricky McCall, Jr., Collin Anderson, Chandler Edwards, Rhiannon Edwards, Christopher Edwards, and Andrew Holt.
