Tanner – Evelyn Tanner, age 100, of Macclenny, Florida passed away at her home on August 12, 2021. She was born May 29, 1921 in Baker County, Florida to the late Everette Johns, Sr. and Ethel Rhoden Johns. Evelyn was a resident of Baker County most of her life and was a member of Glen Hill Primitive Baptist Church. Evelyn liked going to church and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a dedicated employee and enjoyed a 25-year career at North East Florida State Hospital. Evelyn liked planting flowers and tending to them. She also enjoyed canning foods. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Everett Johns, Jr.; sister, June Lyons; daughters, Linda Linton and Francis Hedrick. Evelyn is survived by his children, Larry Ray Tanner of Glen St. Mary, Fl, and Diane Greatrex of Beverly Hills, FL; brother, Arnold (Cindy) Johns of Glen St. Mary, FL; sisters, Helen Bradshaw, and Sheryl (Ted) Patterson; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren. A Celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held at Glen Hill Primitive Baptist Church on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Arnold Johns officiating. Interment will follow at Taylor Cemetery. The family will receive friends on hour prior to service at the church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
