Donald "Don" Gayl Moreland, of Atlantic Beach, Florida, passed away on October 16th, 2021, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Don was born to Gayl and Irene Moreland on August 19th, 1934, in Creston, Iowa. He dedicated 20 years of his life to serving his country (as a sailor in the United States Navy). After his military career, Don worked for the United States Postal Service, where he dutifully served Atlantic Beach residents as a local mail carrier - up until his official retirement. Known to so many as a simple and thoughtful man, Don loved being around family, especially for homemade ice cream at his house. He also loved working with his hands and spending time in his home woodshop, where he built hundreds of toy cars and trucks out of different woods from around the world. Don is preceded in death by his mother and father; his wife, Mary-Lou; and his oldest brother, Harold "Rocky." He will be forever missed by his two sons, Peter Wayne (and wife Jacqueline) Douglas Gene (and wife Lynnda); his four grandchildren; and his six great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021 Ferreira Funeral Services at 12:00 p.m. with Chaplain Jim Cox officiating. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
