Godwin – Billy Pete Godwin, age 76, of Sanderson, Florida passed away at home with his loving family by his side. He was born October 26, 1945, in Glen St. Mary, Florida to the late Nolan Godwin and Louise Caldwell Godwin. Billy was a lifelong resident of Baker County and a member of Dinkins New Congregational Methodist Church. Billy married the love of his life, Susan Alford, in July of 1971. They raised four children who Billy loved spending time with. He was a hardworking man with the best smile around. Billy was an amazing example of what a strong Godly man should be. He always put God first in his life. Billy also enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all he loved playing and laughing with his grandchildren. Billy will certainly be missed by all who knew him because he was incredibly special to us all. Billy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred Godwin, Bobby Godwin, and Ronnie Godwin; sister, Frances Newman; and son, Billy Godwin, Jr. Billy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Susan Godwin of Sanderson, FL; children, Dana (James) Godwin of Lake City, FL, Kary (Amber) Godwin of Sanderson, FL, Eric (Kathrine) Godwin of Starke, FL, and Lacey Godwin of Sanderson, FL; brother William (Cleo) Godwin of Macclenny, FL; sisters, Mary (Luther) Pringle of Bryceville, FL, Loucille Fox of Macclenny, FL, Joanne (Pete) Parish of Glen St Mary, FL, and Winifred Fisher of Glen St. Mary, FL; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Billy’s life will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Dinkins New Congregational Methodist Church with Pastors Allen Crews, Sam Combs, and Troy Alexander officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 11, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
